Sigma, the Japanese company best known for its lenses, announced an overhauled effort Tuesday to expand to camera making as well with an SLR called the SD1 due to ship in February. mean better images, but I’d definitely be interested in taking a look at ones produced by this DSLR. Additional key features on the SD1 include the 3.0-inch TFT LCD color screen (460k-dot resolution), the 11-point autofocus system and CompactFlash card usage.Hence, the Sigma S1 is really made for the hardcore and professional photographers today who demand the best image capturing device available in the market. So for the happy snappers out there looking for a cool new DSLR camera with impressive features, this is probably your best bet. Unfortunately no further specs as well as pricing and if this camera is already available has been bared yet. Read: Sigma Announces S1 Digital DSLR Camera [Sigma Reveals its Flagship Model with the Sigma S1 Digital DSLR Camera] » TFTS – Technology, Gadgets & Curiosities.First, the DS1 is the first Sigma dSLR to feature a metal body with weather sealing. Now, on the surface, this is all good until one considers one thing: there is only one weather-sealed lens in Sigma’s lineup: the just announced 120-300 f2.8 EX DG OS HSM, which should cost a mint as the old, non-sealed, non-stabilized version costs over $2,000. Obviously, the people at Sigma aren’t stupid and know that weather sealed lenses are needed to complete the DS1 package. Look for more general-use, more affordable weather-resistant lenses from Sigma in the near future.

The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the new Sigma APO 70-200 F2.8 EX DG OS HSM.
This large aperture telephoto zoom lens incorporates Sigma’s original Optical Stabilizer function. The lens covers focal lengths from 70mm to 200mm and has a large maximum aperture of F2.8 throughout the entire zoom range. Two FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) glass elements, which have the performance equal to fluorite glass, and three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements provide excellent correction of color aberration. High image quality is assured throughout the

entire zoom range and an optimum optical power layout provides superior optical quality in all shooting ranges from close-up to infinity. The OS (Optical Stabilizer) function offers the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower than would otherwise be possible. For Sony and Pentax mount, the built-in OS function of this lens can be used even if the camera body is equipped with an image sensor shift anti-shake system. As compensation for camera shake is visible in the view finder, the photographer can easily check for accurate focus and ensure there is no subject movement. Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghost.
