The Sony Cyber-shot HX100V is a 16.2 Megapixel super-zoom camera with a 30x stabilized lens and a flip-up 3 inch LCD screen. Released concurrently with the Cyber-shot HX9V pocket super-zoom in February 2011, the HX100V shares the same Exmor-R back-illuminated CMOS sensor in a larger SLR-styled body with a much longer zoom range.

With a sensor in common, the HX100V shares many of the HX9V’s features, including 1080p50/60 HD video, 10fps burst shooting, 3D and sweep panorama modes, along with a built-in GPS receiver. The Cyber-shot HX100V also includes the composite Hand-held Twilight and Anti Motion Blur modes in addition to new Backlight Correction HDR and Background Defocus modes.

The Cyber-shot HX100V is Sony’s first DSLR-styled super-zoom model since the Cyber-shot HX1 back in 2009. Since then Canon and Panasonic have established a strong position in this market with the PowerShot SX30 IS, and the Lumix FZ100 and FZ45 / 40 (not to mention the latest FZ47 / FZ48). Does the Cyber-shot HX100V have what it takes to re-establish Sony in the Super-zoom market, or has two years out of the game given the competition too much of a lead for Sony to regain? Let’s find out in our full review of the Sony Cyber-shot HX100V.

According to dpreview:

There is a lot to like about the HX100V. Its 30x optical zoom lens, which covers 27-810mm (equivalent) is incredibly versatile, the camera feels great in the hand, is comfortable to use and its 16MP sensor provides image quality which, at most ISO sensitivity settings compares well with the best of its competition. Especially impressive is the HX100V’s video mode, which offers a maximum quality of 1080/60p from 60fps sensor output. In addition, as we’ve found with other recent Sony cameras, both compact and interchangeable lens models, high-speed modes like Backlight Correction HDR and Hand-held twilight work well and add real value to the camera.

The Achilles’ heel of the HX100V is without a doubt, its slow operational performance. Its headlline fast framerate modes are exactly that – fast – but basic operations like reviewing images in playback and switching modes involve significant wait times that can easily mean the difference between capturing or missing that special moment.

Step up to new levels of DSLR refinement and performance. Enjoy all the freedom of Quick AF Live View shooting plus speedy responses, generous creative options and extremely high quality, low noise Full HD video and still images. The high-resolution CMOS sensor assures detail-packed pictures with excellent contrast and gorgeous colors. Exmor technology cuts noise while signals are converted to digital form. The result? Flawlessly beautiful images! Capture fast-moving action or the changing expression of a portrait subject with a continuous burst of images. Speed priority mode shoots at a lightning-fast 7 frames per second. Don’t miss those vital details. The LCD screen gives you an incredible view of all your shots, with superb color reproduction and contrast. It’s ideal for checking correct focus and exposure when you’re reviewing pictures after shooting. The LCD screen tilts up or down for comfortable viewing in different shooting positions. It’s really useful if you’re not holding the camera close to your eye: for example of you’re shooting above a crowd or crouching down for an interesting viewpoint.

According to dpReview:

From a price and specification point of view the Sony DSLR-A580 competes directly with other mid-level cameras such as its sister camera SLT-A55, the Canon EOS 600D/Rebel T3i or the Nikon D5100. In terms of image quality there is not an awful lot between these cameras (three of them even use the same sensor platform) but while the more established rivals (at least in the DSLR arena) stick to their tried and tested DSLR formulas, Sony is a little more adventurous and manages to differentiate itself with some unique design ideas such as the SLT-A55′s fixed translucent mirror or the A580′s dual live view modes.

The A580 uses a small secondary sensor in the viewfinder to provide live view with fast phase-detection AF, but can also utilize the slower but higher-resolution main-sensor live view system used by all other manufacturers, albeit only with very slow contrast-detect AF. This combination should get the A580 a top-spot on your camera shortlist if you are planning to undertake a large proportion of your shooting in live-view. The fact that the A580 has been designed around this mode also means that it works pretty well in video mode, despite a lack of manual controls. On the other hand, if you still regard live view as an unnecessary gimmick that’s only being used by ‘compact-camera-upgraders’ then one of the more ‘traditional’ designs might be a better option.

According to cnet:

The main purpose of RAW image format is to capture a photo with as little processing as possible. In a JPEG file, several parameters are applied to the image, such as white balance, saturation and contrast, among other things; then the file is compressed using a lossy scheme. With RAW format you are generally getting as much information as your digital camera can record with, so in essence, RAW acts very much like a digital negative. The advantage of having a large amount of data in each image is that the photographer has more to work with in post-processing, and can cull out any unwanted data manually. The disadvantage is that the files are very large, causing more room to be taken up on the camera’s memory card, and also slowing down the camera’s ability to capture shots because of recording time.

Sony DSC-WX9 – unrestricted power in a compact package. With powerful features like Full HD movie for high quality movies, low light performance for improved image clarity, 10 fps to capture the precise moment, and 3D still image capture for a new way to experience your pictures, you wouldn’t believe something so compact could be this powerful.

Summary:
The WX9 isn’t immune to the typical problems of a small-sensor camera, but it performs remarkably well and offers some unique features.

16.1 Megapixel Back-illuminated “Exmor R” CMOS Image Sensor

The DSC-WX9 features a 16.1 megapixel “Exmor R” CMOS image sensor that brings out the full resolving power of the camera’s Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens to deliver extremely fast speed, high resolution, and stunning low-light sensitivity with improved image clarity and drastically reduced grain. In addition, the combined “Exmor R” CMOS sensor and BIONZ image processor delivers extremely fast 10fps, Anti Motion Blur, Hand-held Twilight and 1080i movie modes3.

	3.0-inch XtraFine
3.0-inch XtraFine technology gives you deeper blacks and more color in your display, all while being thinner than most LCDs.

Full HD 1080@60i

Record crystal clear movies at the highest resolution available with capabilities for 60i in 1080 AVCHD3. This provides stunning, fast motion video with less distortion for playback on your HD TV.

3D still image and panorama

Produce awe-inspiring images with 3D still image and 3D Sweep Panorama capabilities4. Photos will take on a new dimension of creative capabilities for viewing the world in a whole new way.

iSweep Panorama

With iSweep Panorama just press the shutter, pan the landscape and let the camera do the rest. It automatically links together each frame to produce a panoramic image. This model even detects faces and moving subjects to stitch intelligently different widths to help avoid subject distortion.

Background Defocus

DSLR photographs are often beautiful because they blur the background, putting the emphasis on the subject. Now our point-and-shoot cameras can deliver this signature DSLR benefit. The system takes two shots, identifies the background and applies a defocused background keeping the subject crisp and clear.

Backlight Correction HDR

Don’t miss a single detail in high contrast shots. The built in backlight correction analyzes the image and automatically adjusts accordingly to give you a perfectly lit shot. Backlight Correction HDR helps correct for this by taking three pictures at different exposure settings and processing the best elements of each into a single image for more natural looking shots.

We have an updates on Sony’s latest camera which is Alpha NEX-3 interchangeable lens digital camera. What shock us the most is it’s gone pink, as a marketing strategy we can assume that this time, they target on female customer. A great way to achieve a result with targeted market.

For woman who likes to show their feminine side, one might suggest an idea of carrying around a cotton candy with this cam and all pink attire with all pink color. That is why If you want to go totally pink, Sony also announced a new accessory set along with the main unit. The set, which consists of a pink pouch, a pink strap and other things, costs $180

Sony really shows that they did not hide the fact that that this pinky-colored NEX-3 is intended for the female demographic, along with several other pink accessories. Which includes a couple of cases set to roll out next May and an accessory kit consisting of a battery, screen protector and wrist band that will ship next month.

Besides focusing on pink, Sony also introduces other 2 additional colors to the Alpha NEX-3 series of interchangeable lens system digital cameras. The one Currently available is in black, silver, red and white, this give photographers ability to expand their style options with the NEX-3 in pink and brown.

Another news from NEX is, Sony will be selling the NEX-3 with a double lens kit, branded as NEX-3D. Technically, this model is the same as the previous NEX-3 that was upgraded with a 3D panorama sweep mode in July. The feel of having 3D panorama will absolutely have some advantage there.

Before this, when the NEX-5 and NEX-3 were launched, one of the biggest drawback among users was the lack of autofocus when an A-mount optics was attached to the shooters via an adapter. However, it’s all now in good condition when Sony announced a new firmware to enable this feature and win over the battle of drawback before.

Sony will provide users with even more exciting photo experience by offering a firmware upgrade for the Alpha NEX-5 and NEX-3 cameras. This will available from 14th October 2010. So what’s inside the upgrades? It will consist of :

Autofocus operation to be supported on both NEX-3 and NEX-5 when using A-mount SAM and SSM lenses with the optional LA-EA1 Mount Adaptor

Incorporate a new custom function that allows assignment to buttons of frequently-used functions

Allow photographers to record movies using set-up aperture.

By using this upgraded firmware, Sony’s interchangeable lens NEX-series cameras will soon be able to perform better than before, users will have the option of setting aperture and enabling autofocus in movie mode when using SAM and SSM Alpha-mount lenses on the required adapter. The software will fix some problems noted by users in the interface, and enable other features.

The Sony Alpha NEX-3 in pink will only be available in Japan (at least for now) when it launches on November 19 for ¥80,000 ($978). The pink version will be available from November 2010 with a variety of optional pink accessories.

To download the firmware upgrade, please click here: <a href="http://www.sony-asia.com/section/downloads"target="blank" target="_blank">http://www.sony-asia.com/section/downloads (available from 14th October).

Today I’m going to talk about Sony Alpha SLT-A33 where at the similar price to this, you can experience more functionality of it’s interchangeble lens camera. On top of all, it built with 1080i video and 14 MP lens. The advantage of this camera is its User friendly where the navigation an functionality inside the camera are easily understand and really quick to make any adjustment. Another recomended good quality by CNET is that this camera delivers a good result

and quality with minimum fuss. A total clear image with a little fussyness. The video also have a good reputation with it’s decent stills from one device.
For the snapshot photographer, who wants to move into professional performance camera, this camera offers you step by step learning curve towards it. Sony already produce the α33 (SLT-A33) and α55 (SLT-A55V) camera. The α33 can take picture with 7 frames per second. Besides this, sony has equipped the Alpha model with 15-point autofocus system that allows for more accurate tracking of moving objects.

I compiled some of the expert reviews about Sony Alpha SLT-A33 and they said that :
Blisteringly fast; Highly versatile fold-out display; Records 1080i video; Comfortable and compact, while Electronic viewfinder won’t suit everyone. Like its big brother, the SLT-A55, the Sony Alpha SLT-A33 camera uses innovative translucent-mirror technology to capture stills in lightning-fast bursts. Both its photos and high-definition video are cracking.
-By Rich Trenholm (cnet.co.uk)

Sony’s A33 uses new translucent mirror technology in a digital camera for the first time. Is this the beginning of the end for DSLR cameras as we know them? That What Digital Camera Sony Alpha A33. The pros is that Super-fast continuous focus burst shooting, phase-detection live-view, excellent 1080i HD movie autofocus. The cons is that the Widescreen ratio LCD, EVF not for everyone, noisy kit lens (video can pick up lens zoom and focus noise)
-By Mike Lowe (whatdigitalcamera.com)

In The End
We can tell that, the Alpha SLT-A33 produced by Sony technology provide easier way to take a better pictures, which is what all cameraman wants from an interchangeable lens camera at non professional level. It is Fast, responsive, and a good fit for the fist, the A33 is a capable tool for the non pro that looking for more professional look. With this camera you have a good result and least amount of editing.

Sony α33 DSLR key features:
Full Time Live View
Smart Capture mode
Optical image stabilization
10fps continuous shooting

We have a look at alpha 900, first introduced on the a900, giving the photographer an option to to take a sample image at the current settings. When this mode is enabled in the settings (default), then using the depth of field (DOF) preview button makes a preview image of the subject. The display shows the image and its image histogram, but it is not stored on the memory card. At that point, the photographer can accept current settings or simulate how the

image (and histogram) would look with changes in aperture, shutter speed, Dynamic Range optimizer and white balance. If the photographer prefers those new settings he simply continues to work to accept them. Otherwise he can reject them by depressing the garbage can icon. He can also compare the sample to the simulation by depressing the DISP button.

Upon taking the Sony a900 in your hands for the first time, you immediately notice how well built it is, and how the large, carefully sculpted grip fits your hand like a glove. Weighing in at just under 930 grams with a battery – and 850 grams without one – the body itself is not particularly heavy for a full-frame camera, being roughly in the same ballpark as some high-end DSLRs with considerably smaller sensors, such as the Nikon D300. Couple it with a high-quality, fast zoom lens capable of projecting an image circle large enough for its 36x24mm sensor, though, and you’ll soon find that the resulting combo can be tiring to carry around all day.

This camera has a great quality with powerful ultra zoom that makes picture looks so real. But the price for this camera also not cheap, but again it does offer a lot of features.

The best: Fast; tiltable LCD; Hand-held Twilight mode produces better-than-average photos in low light; zooms during movie capture.

The lack of: Small EVF; no raw support; HDMI output requires dongle; no standard continuous-shooting mode.

The bottom line: Trade-offs abound in Sony’s Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 megazoom. Though it’s fast and has some really novel, useful features, it just doesn’t deliver the photo quality expected for its class.

All the item:
• Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HZ1 camera
• Li-ion rechargeable battery NP-FH50
• Battery Charger BH-VH1
• USB & AV out cable
• HDMI adpater
• Strap
• Lens cap
• Software CD
• Manual

Review:
First of all, Camera manufacturers seem to have chosen megazooms as their latest battlefield–and thankfully, the fight isn’t just about who’s got the biggest lens. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 incorporates several technologies from the Alpha DSLR products, including a 1/2.4-inch 10-megapixel Exmor CMOS sensor (for 9-megapixel images) and 20X f2. The zoom feels pretty typical for this class; it operates smoothly, but because it’s stepped you never quite stop where you expect. In the middle lie the focus selection and drive mode buttons. Finally, the mode dial offers all the typical shooting modes–manual and semimanual (PASM), intelligent auto, Easy, Anti Motion Blur (raises ISO sensitivity and shutter speed), programmed scene, and movie–plus two novelties: Sweep Panorama and Hand-held Twilight.

SLT A55 and SLT A33 is a new product from Sony using company’s translucent mirror design. The best thing about The Single Lens Translucent (SLT) cameras is that it’s offer live view with full-time fast phase-detection AF whether in stills or movie shooting. The way they function is by having a fixed, semi-transparent mirror that redirects a small amount of light onto the AF sensor while allowing the rest through onto the main imaging sensor.

The α (pronounced Alpha) family of interchangeable lens cameras from Sony grows with the compact, ultra-responsive new α55 and α33.

Sony’s first-ever digital cameras to employ Translucent Mirror Technology showcase an innovative optical system that opens up dramatic new shooting possibilities. In contrast with conventional DSLR cameras, Translucent Mirror Technology uses a fixed, translucent mirror that ‘splits’ the optical pathway between the main image sensor and a separate phase-detection autofocus sensor.

High-resolution live image preview with rapid, accurate phase detection autofocus is thus available at all times – either via the angle-adjustable 7.5cm (3”) LCD or precision Tru-Finder (electronic viewfinder). This also ensures that even moving objects stay in sharp focus at all times, whether you’re shooting Full HD video or stills.

Translucent Mirror Technology overcomes other traditional limitations of DSLR models, with its simplified mechanical design shrinking camera size and complexity. This makes the α55 and α33 a compelling choice for casual photographers who want to capture spontaneous family moments and travel scenes with less to carry.

Full-resolution shooting at up to 10fps with precise AF tracking
Ground-breaking Translucent Mirror Technology allows high-speed shooting with the α55 at up to 10fps (α33: 7fps) in Continuous Priority AE mode. This represents the world’s fastest burst continuous AF shooting performance of any interchangeable lens camera with an APS-C size sensor.

Sony SLT A55 is a interchangeable lens camera. They using fixed translucent mirror to redirect some of the captured light to the autofocus sensor. There can create a result is a full-time live view camera that can shoot at 10 frames per second and autofocus during video shooting. The great deign blurs the already hazy line between DSLRs and mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras but has the potential to completely re-shape the market.

Sony’s latest interchangeable lens cameras, the SLT Alpha A33 and A55 represent a significant technological milestone – not just for Sony but for the enthusiast camera market as a whole.

The company has rejected the traditional DSLR design and instead created a hybrid that, like a compact camera, is from the ground up built around live view, but one that is also capable of offering full-time DSLR-style phase-detection autofocus. The combination means they can offer features such as phase-detection AF during movie recording and extremely fast continuous shooting rates (10 frames per second on the A55), previously unthinkable at this price.

This is made possible by adopting an approach that has more in common with a mirrorless camera (like the Panasonic G2, for example) than an SLR by removing the bits that pretty much define such cameras: the optical viewfinder and moving mirror.

The designation ‘SLT’ stands for single lens translucent and it’s the ‘translucent’ bit that’s the key to what differentiates these new models both from conventional DSLRs and mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. The SLTs do have mirrors, but they’re mirrors that let the majority of the light pass straight through to the sensor, rather than having to swing out of the way to allow exposure. As a result they are fixed in position, always reflecting a portion of the light emerging from the back of the lens onto a phase-detection AF array housed in the top of the camera. (A newly-developed 15-point array in the case of these two cameras).
